If Alexa and the CityFALCON Skill are not cooperating, there are two main possible reasons.
Voice Processing Issue
As far as voice recognition and processing have come, the machines still are not on-par with human understanding. Newer words, like fintech, or those with nonstandard pronunciations can confuse the machines. Complex names of companies can also be problematic, like BNP Paribas. The difficulties here are compounded by the fact that the name is French but often used in English. Some might pronounce it like the French version (Bey-En-Pey Paribah), some like an English version (Bee-En-Pee Paribas), and some might mix (Bee-En-Pee Paribah). Regional accents, even for standard words, can cause problems for Alexa, too.
In this case, we suggest you create a watchlist with an easy name such as “My Stocks” on the desktop or mobile platform and include the topics you are looking for there. This way, you will be able to receive recent news by saying What are the top news on My Stocks.
Missing from Database Issue
The other possibility is that we haven't covered the topic yet. There are millions of companies, key people, and ideas around the world, and we are working our way towards including them all. But we are still a growing company and have not added everything to our database.
When users are served an error on our voice platform, we are automatically notified of their query and will add it to our database. It may take a few days to a couple weeks for the topic to be added. If your topic is still unavailable after a short period of time, though, you can message us through the Contact Us link provided on every page in the lower left corner or via the Contact Form.
