You can create watchlists just like on the desktop and mobile platforms. You can also add and remove topics plus delete entire watchlists through Alexa.
To make a new watchlist, use the create command: "Create a new watchlist called My Commodities". Now you will have a new watchlist called "My Commodities", and it will be immediately activated.
Adding and Deleting Topics
If you want to add a topic, simply use the add command. Currently, you can only add topics to the active watchlist. If you need to know which watchlist is active, ask What is my current watchlist.
This is an example of creating, adding and deleting for watchlists:
- Create a new watchlist called My Stocks
- Add Google and Microsoft to My Stocks
- Remove Microsoft from My Stocks
Make sure you include the watchlist name or simply from my watchlist when deleting topics. Otherwise, Alexa won't know if your request is to delete a watchlist or to delete a topic from a watchlist.
Using stock tickers
There are thousands of stocks, and sometimes it may be hard to differentiate between similar ones. In that case, you can speak ticker symbols, just like you would read them. So, instead of saying Add Amazon, you can say Add A-M-Z-N.
Just remember, speech recognition technology is in its infancy, so sometimes the outcome is not as you expected. As your requests are routed through Alexa, we rely on Amazon to correctly parse the voice data, which is then sent to us as text data, and sometimes it does not work out so well. If you want to do a lot of editing or create a lot of watchlists, we recommend using the mobile or desktop platforms instead of voice.
