This page is a simple breakdown of the structure of the desktop platform and what you can find in the desktop section of the Knowledge Base (link to the front of the Knowledge Base, in case you came from an external page or site).
You might find the FAQs helpful for other questions. We also have sections for what we offer (including how our technologies work), various subscription plans, and our other platforms on mobile and on voice (Amazon Alexa, Google Home).
All links in this article lead to other parts of the Knowledge Base, mostly within the Desktop section, but sometimes outside of it. The headers that are also links point straight to the Tab itself on the desktop platform (on the main CityFALCON website, not in the Knowledge Base).
These are one of the pillars of CityFALCON. These are completely customisable lists of topics and search queries that you can track with various applicable filters. They control what you see on your news feed, and every interaction you have with content on those feeds will improve the amount of personalisation we provide to you.
Trending stories and topics are those that we have determined to be experiencing high levels of activity. You can change what you see as Trending based on the filters. A more in-depth discussion of our technology for this can be found on this page.
The Trending Tab is a dedicated section for Trending, but you can also see them on the Watchlist tab with the Trending Bar.
Filters
We have Story Filters, which filter content based on several attributes, like time period, type of publication, language, and a CityFALCON relevancy score.
We also have the Trending Filters, which are applicable only to Trending items and allow you to shift your feeds based on topic classes and the timeframe we use to calculate whether something is trending or not.
Searching is available in several places on the website. When adding topics to watchlists or if you click on the magnifying glass on any Tab, you can see a Search Bar. On the other hand, we also have a dedicated Search Tab, which is designed to facilitate one-time searches that you don't want to add to a watchlist.
We support simple and complex search queries, from single items up to Boolean-operator queries with parentheses and exact phrasing via quotes. See the Search Tab link in the previous paragraph if you need a (very) basic crash course in complex search query building.
If you don't have a particular topic in mind for search, you can browse many categories of economic and financial interest on the Directory Tab. Some of the more common topics our users like to browse are sectors, stocks, cryptocurrencies, and people. But we have many more.
